Prepping For Bad Weather? Must Have Items You May Not Have Thought About
If there are some upcoming weather concerns and you fear that you may be without power, there are some things that you want to get. Everyone knows that you want to have food and water, or that you want to get a generator for backup heat or electricity, but there are some other things that may not have thought about. Being over prepared is the best thing you can do. Consider getting these different things for the weather concerns coming up, so you will be prepared for what may be ahead.
Dry Ice
Dry ice is an item that is great to have available when there are upcoming bad weather concerns, because you can use it for the following reasons:
- Keep refrigerated and frozen items cool
- Use for medical treatment in an emergency
- Use to cool a room when people become overheated
- Help prevent or put out a fire
You want to purchase dry ice and store it in a safe place so it is ready to go if you have some bad weather and lose power or need it fast.
Protein Drinks or Mixes
If someone gets hurt or doesn't have the appetite to eat food, or if you end up with more people in your home than you have food supply, you want to have some protein drinks or protein and vitamin mixes on hand. This way you can use the mixes or drinks as meals to keep everyone healthy during the bad weather.
Two-Way Radio
A set of two way radios allows you to communicate with others throughout your house, you can give a set to the neighbors, and you can use them to listen to broadcasts and to communicate with first responders. You want to be sure that you have plenty of batteries or that they are charged and ready to go.
There are a lot of different things that you want to have on hand when you are afraid that you may be trapped in your house for a while, and without power, and these are some of the items you may not think about but need to be at the top of your list. Make sure that you start to prepare as far in advance as possible, so you don't find that the supplies that you need have ran out, or that you don't have enough time to get the items you need to stock.
